Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. Her catalog includes more than twenty albums. DiFranco's songs are classified as alternative and folk. But, they incorporate elements of hip-hop music, jazz, and punk. Ani Difranco is considered to be a symbol of feminist music. In the year 1990 she was one of the first people to launch her own record label. DiFranco is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They met at their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her mother is from Montreal as is her father, who is Italian heritage. Ani Difrasco wrote and sang the song "32 Flavors". This song appeared on her fifth studio album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in the year 1995. The song is featured on the movie soundtrack of the 1999 Canadian love story Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco has since apologized after it was revealed that she was scheduled to hold a 3-day workshop at a Louisiana ex-slave plantation. It was cancelled however many (including this piece) were not able to sense any regret. DiFranco issued another apology several days afterwards. Although known as Little Peoplesinger, she's worked with many musicians and artists, from Pete Seeger through Chuck D up to Prince. Her home is New Orleans. Ani DiFranco is married to Kristen Ford. In just 14 months, DiFranco was already writing her own lyrics. Teens were filled with playing them in pubs and coffee shops. DiFranco was enrolled in Buffalo State College when she was 16 aged.
